Our Yorkshire Farm: Tragic moment passes away

In an emotional episode of the repeat broadcast of Our Yorkshire Farm, Amanda Owen was visibly distraught as she delivered devastating news to her family.

The Owen clan came together within their barn when Amanda, fighting through tears, broke the saddening truth that Little Joe, their beloved family pony, had succumbed to a heart attack during the night.

A previous scene from the 2021 episode revealed Amanda's poignant moment with her children when she asked young Nancy, "So what do you think, Nancy?" Following Nancy's fond recollection that "He was quite good," Amanda emotionally agreed: "He was good, wasn't he?"

The conversation continued innocently as Nancy innocently looked at another horse and asked if it would share the same fate. Amanda reassured her, saying, "No, Tony is just young," reports Leeds Live.

When Nancy probed further about Little Joe's death, Amanda gently told her: "He did, he didn't suffer, he just dropped. He just had a heart attack."

Despite the heavy-hearted atmosphere, Amanda consoled her brood with affirming words: "I don't think there could be a better looked-after pony."

The Owens then gathered solemnly to say goodbye to Little Joe, with Amanda candidly sharing her grief with viewers as she stated: "We're going to miss him."

As the episode progressed, the family, including Amanda and Clive's eldest daughter Raven, recently home from university, joined in remembrance.

Reflecting on cherished memories brought up by Reuben, who said, "Me and you used to spend loads of time riding that horse," Raven added a touch of light-heartedness by joking, "He was responsible for me losing my first two teeth.

"I used to make him gallop in the bottom field with my hands in the air at the same time. It was my party trick until I fell off a few times."

While reflecting on their loss's emotional impact, Amanda later shared: "Raven is really upset about losing Little Joe. He has been a continual presence in her life."

Her children, Reuben, Raven, and Miles, took it upon themselves to create a lasting tribute for Little Joe, opting to craft a memorial from a tree stump. "It's going to go up where Joe is buried," Raven detailed.

Amidst the somber occasion of gathering around Little Joe's resting place, Amanda endeavoured to impart some wisdom to her little ones about the inevitable cycle of life, using their other pony, Tony, as an example.

She imparted this lesson: "Having pets is part of it; the minute you take on responsibility for a pet, even like Tony, it is for life, isn't it? At some point, life will come to an end, won't it? Anything can die, life is a fragile thing."
